My Story

My work as a McKenzie Friend is shaped by both professional expertise and lived experience. When I went through my own high-conflict divorce, I experienced first-hand how isolating and overwhelming the process can be. Despite having a Master’s degree in Law, I found the practical reality of applications, hearings, and financial disclosure daunting,  particularly while managing the emotional strain and trying to protect stability for my children.

Like many, I initially turned to solicitors believing this was the necessary route forward. However, the process felt reactive and fragmented. I received bills for tens of thousands, but little strategic oversight. Concerns around hidden assets were not explored without further specialist instruction, and I began to realise that what was missing was not simply legal advice, it was structured, strategic guidance.

Drawing on my background as a Management Consultant in Finance, I approached my case differently. I was accustomed to assessing risk, reviewing financial documentation and planning how to achieve the best outcomes I applied that same strategic discipline to my own proceedings and chose to represent myself as a Litigant in Person. Despite the complexity involved, I achieved a successful outcome through preparation, structure and clarity.

That experience shaped the direction of my work.

Bridging the Gap in Divorce Support

Following my divorce, it became clear to me that many individuals navigating separation need more than legal representation alone. They need:

  • Consistent, strategic guidance

  • Clear explanations of process

  • Support in understanding financial realities

  • Calm oversight during emotionally charged negotiations

  • Continuity throughout proceedings

Through my online divorce forum and client work, I regularly meet individuals who feel overwhelmed by the system, disengaged from expensive legal teams, or fearful of entering court unrepresented. Many simply need someone who understands both the procedural framework and the emotional weight of what they are facing.

I undertook further professional development, gaining additional certification in Family Law and Domestic Abuse, and completing formal training as a McKenzie Friend and Coach. Combined with over 15 years’ experience in Management Consultancy and Finance, including work across three continents, I now support clients in matters involving complex financial structures, business interests, and property portfolios.

As a McKenzie Friend, I provide practical support in court in accordance with Family Court guidance. I do not act as a legal representative, but I ensure clients are organised, composed and supported at each stage.
